Paintings

Born in Berchem in 1961, Richard lives and works in Antwerp—a city that pulses with art, culture, and contrast. As one of Europe’s artistic capitals, Antwerp has shaped his identity: cosmopolitan, curious, and attuned to the dialogue between differences.

Since childhood, travel has been a constant thread in his life—first with his parents, then alone. What began as an exploration of the world gradually became a deeper journey inward: into emotion, memory, and reflection.

A careful observer of life, a listener to feeling, Richard captures both the seen and the sensed. His paintings are not immediate impressions, but layered translations—snapshots where thought and feeling meet. At times intimate, always open, his work invites the viewer in. It does not judge, but offers space for recognition.

The groupings of his paintings are meant only as pathways—ways to wander through his work. Themes reappear, techniques shift, but the intention remains: to share, to connect, and to reflect the world back with honesty and heart.
